Forestry Ventures

Líl̓wat Forestry Ventures (LFV) is a Nation-owned forestry company of the Líl̓wat Nation. LFV’s mandate is to pursue sustainable forest management while creating employment and training opportunities through forestry operations and contracting. LFV is a SAFE Certified Company, demonstrating a strong commitment to safety and professional forestry practices.

LFV operates under an independent Board of Directors and functions at arm’s length from the Nation. With approximately 30 full-time staff and up to 55 employees during peak operating seasons, the company has the expertise, equipment, and capacity to deliver high-quality forestry services to government, industry, and community partners. 

LFV’s growing contracting division offers firefighting, field management work, brushing and slashing, and excavation work. This division also subcontracts engineering, road building, and harvesting services to outside companies. These companies are expected to hire and train Líl̓wat Nation members as part of
fulfilling LBG’s ongoing commitment to capacity building.

Guided by Líl̓wat cultural values, LFV takes a holistic approach to forest stewardship, recognizing that forests support food systems, medicinal plants, wildlife habitat, and culturally significant areas across both reserve lands and the broader Líl̓wat Traditional Territory.

Stewardship & Leadership

LFV supports Indigenous-led forest stewardship across Líl̓wat Territory, with a focus on improving wildfire resilience, restoring ecosystem health, and integrating cultural knowledge with modern forestry practices.

Through partnerships with the Líl̓wat Nation and regional agencies, LFV works to balance community safety, ecological resilience, and sustainable economic development.
