Ensuring Responsible Development of Líl̓wat Nation’s Lands
LBG’s Capital Assets division manages the development of all of Líl̓wat Nation’s fee simple lands, specifically those in Pemberton and Whistler.
Capital Assets is committed to developing projects that re-establish Lil̓wat7úl presence on the Nation’s Territory through partnerships with Murphy Construction and Pemberton Benchlands Development Corporation. As part of its negotiations in its land development deals, Capital Assets ensures that every project includes employment opportunities for Líl̓wat Nation citizens.
LBG currently has land development projects underway in Pemberton and Whistler. Pemberton projects include the Nkwúkwma housing development and a major mixed residential/commercial development on the Highway Yards property at the south entrance to town. In Whistler, a mixed residential/commercial project is under construction at Function Junction. This development will expand staff housing opportunities for Whistler businesses, offer commercial space and provide a combined fueling station.
Capital Assets is currently also active in the development of a project on reserve, Líl̓wat Marketplace, a community business area to be built on the land between Líl̓wat Station and Ts̓zil Learning Centre.
