Nkwúkwma* is a mixed-residential development planned for 31 ha of a 60 ha parcel parcel located in what is also known as Pemberton’s Benchlands. This project, which further re-establishes Lil̓wat7u̓l presence on the Nation’s Traditional Territory, will be developed over a 20- to 25-year period with approximately 450 homes being built. Civil systems—water, roads, and sewer—are planned to be put in place in 2024. LBG has partnered with the Pemberton Benchlands Development Corporation to form the Skénkenam* Development LP to deliver this long-term project.
*An Ucwalmícwts word meaning “upstream, north,” Nkwúkwma is the colloquial Lil̓wat7úl name for Pemberton. Skénkenam refers to the river, also known as Pemberton Creek, that flows into One Mile Lake.
